vol.80 仮説　"土曜日の授業復活で日本は甦る”

"徐々に衰退し始めている"と、司馬遼太郎など多く知識人は日本の将来を心配してきました。
最近長女が"土曜日の学校を再開してほしい。そのことで社会も良くなると思う"と言いました。
話を聞くにつれ私も同感することが多々ありました。
最近、多発する凶悪な社会事件、少年犯罪に心を痛めての我が家の会話です。

日本のサラリーマンの働き過ぎを諸外国から批判され、週休２日制が進みました。
これに合わせて学校まで土曜日が休みとなり、塾への依存などで逆に家庭の出費も増えています。
週休２日制とは名ばかりで、実態は長男も次男も長女の旦那も土曜日は休みになっていません。
いつも書いていますように私も事業の関係で日曜日さえありません。

激しい競争社会の中で若いパパ達は休日返上で働き家族のために頑張っています。
結果として、土曜日は子供のために子供相手に母親の負担が増しています。
親の負担もさることながら、人は一生勉強の連続であり、勉強に休みはないはずです。
勉学に集中すべき学生時代に、学校が土曜日休みでは社会が良くなるはずがありません。

少年犯罪の多発には心が痛みます。
凶悪犯罪がまた新聞に大きく取り上げられました。
チラッと斜め読みし、続報からは目を背けることにしています。
親が子を管理しすぎている｡
がんじがらめにして、勉強しなさい、勉強しなさいと、顔を見れば、その言葉しかでない。
子供は切れる。その結果が凶悪犯罪である。
逆に、子を放ったらかしにし、何ら管理しない親もいる。
子供はぐれる。学校で暴れる。
少しは俺にもかまってくれよ。子供ではどうして良いか分からんことが多すぎる。管理してくれ。
学校の先生にしては、後者は困る。学校に来るなとなる。
ぐれた少年は、自分で何とかしようともがき、うまくいけば立派な社会人となる。
が、大抵は暴力団の餌食となる。

程々の管理が最適である。
子供の頃は遊びたいばっかりである。
小生もそうであった。
金曜日の授業が終わると、明日は半ドン、あさっては学校がない。うれしーい。思いっ切り遊べるぞ。
祭日が絡めばなお嬉しい。毎週祭日があるといいなあ。
小生が大人になり、二人の子供をもった。
勉強しろとは、一度も言わなかった。
仕事に追われ、自分が自由になる時間が少なかったが、
たまに暇が出来たら、努めて子供と一緒に遊び、遊びのかずかずを教えた。
もう、その頃には上級生がちびっ子まで面倒を見て遊んでくれる時代は過ぎようとしていた。
親が遊んでやらねばならない時代になっていた。
うちの子をたまに面倒をみてくれる子がいた。
うれしかった。したがって、自分の子を遊ばせるとき、なるべく隣近所の子も一緒に遊ばせた。
これは結構しんどい。自分の子供を遊ばせるだけでも、疲れるのに、他人の子供まで加わると、疲労困憊。
でも、隣の子にうちの子がお世話になっているのだから、たまには遊んでやらなくっちゃ。
二時間も付き合ってあげると、くたくたになる。
今日だけだぞ、と隣の子に、つい言ってしまうが、充実感が沸いてきて、後日、また、遊んであげる。

今の親はあまり遊んだことがないのか、子供の遊ばせ方も知らない。
近くの児童公園へ子供を一人、二人連れて遊びに来る親をたまに見かけるが、３０分もすれば、帰ってしまう。
それ以上の時間は親が辛抱できなくなるのか。
情けない。
毎日毎日子供の面倒を見なければならない辛さから解放されたい。
学校で面倒を見てくれ、塾で面倒を見てくれ、お稽古ごとで面倒を見てくれ。
何でもいいから、ずーっとだれかが管理していてくれ。
完全に親サイドの勝手な思いで、子供は自由を奪われる。
今の子供はあまりにもかわいそうである。
自由に遊ばせてもらえない。
小生の子供はいっぱい遊びを覚え、毎日、友達と遊びほうけた。
ほめてやったが、あちこちの親から苦情が来た。
お宅の子のせいで、うちの子が勉強しなくて困るという。
小生はそんな親は無視した。
子供にとって勉強とは遊びである。遊びに集中すれば、当然に集中力がはぐくまれる。
下級生の扱いが勉強できリーダーシップが自然と養われる。
自分の将来の進路を決めなきゃならない年になれば、それを目指して受験勉強に集中して取り組むことも自発的に行うようになるであろう。
集中して勉強する気が出てくれば成績は、自ずとグングンあがる。
自分の経験から、それが分かっていたから、勉強せよとは一言も言わなかった。
仕事が忙しくて夜１２時すぎに帰ることがしばしばであったが、うちへ帰ると子供がまだ受験勉強をしている。
「寝ている間に頭の中が整理されるんだから、もう寝ろよな。」と、声を掛けるのがせいぜいであった。

今、小生の子供は、二人とも社会人になって、親元から遠く離れて暮らしているが、
一生勉強の連続と心得て、なにがしらやっているようだ。
考えがまだまだ甘いと思えるが、小生のように水飲み百姓の小せがれとして育ったわけではなく、あまりにも豊かな時代に育ったのだから、こんなもんか、と多少は不満があるものの、合格点を付けてやらねば、と考えています。

いつ、孫が生まれるか。遠い未来のような気がしてならぬのですが、
自分がぶっ倒れてもいいから、孫にいっぱい遊びを教えてやろうと、それだけを考えています。
親も、学校も、地域社会も、子供に遊びを、もっともっと教えてあげねばならない時代だと思います。
学校も土曜日は先生が遊んであげるから、みんなおいで。
そんな先生がいたら、子供達は最高に幸せでしょう。
日曜日は近くの公園へおいで。おじさんが遊んであげるから。
そんなおじさんになりたいのですが、小生には時間が無くてごめんなさい。
暇が出来るかも知れない将来は、体がもたんようになって、改めてごめんなさい。
世の中、余りにも忙しすぎて、つい、自分のことしか考えないようになってごめんなさい。
小生も、駄目人間ですなあ。ごめんなさい。
