vol.78 起業家を目指した動機

人生は出会いです。強烈な人との出会いによって人生は変わります。
私はサラリーマンとしての研究生活を楽しんでいました。
起業家になるなど初めから考えていた訳ではありません。
動機となったものを時系列的に振り返ってみました。

・小学校５年の時、地元出身の先生から「君の爺さんはできる人だった。爺さんを超えるように」と励まされました。
・中学２年の時、伯母から「祖父が残念がっていたのはタオル工場を作れなかったことだった」と聞かされました。
・大学４年の時、卒論でお世話になった先生から「大学は事業のネタを探す手法を学ぶ場だ」と熱く聞いていました。
・企業人になって、直接の上司から「世界で初めての仕事を一緒にやろう」と率先して手本を示してくれていました。
・結婚し、廣島の義父から"創業体験、創業時の苦労話”を聞き刺激になっていました。
・”若い時は一流の人に鍛えてもらえ”と私が言い、長男、次男は関東に就職、家の後継が居なくなりました。
・”生涯現役で好きな仕事を続けたい”との想いあり、それには起業するしかないと思うようになりました。

このような環境にあって、どんな仕事を始めるかを考え続けます。
”新しい物”に熱くなる性格から「ヤーコンを食材にして新産業を創出しよう」と絵を描き始めます。その背景には
"子供達が野菜を食べず、家庭の食事が便秘と肥満を助長させている"との私自身の認識もあり、
”野菜と果物を十分食べることでガンは防げる”とのアメリカ国立ガン研究センターの考え方も追い風となって、
確信を持って事業に取り組んできました。しかし、思うほどにはヤーコンの認知度が上がらず、今も苦労の連続です。
